Oman Medical College 'OPEN DAY'

Assalamualaikum and Hi ladies,

PERWAKILAN recently has participated in Cultural Exhibition and Fashion Show organised by the Oman Medical College (OMC) held on 13^th February  2011 at Bowshar, Muscat. During the Cultural Exhibition which began from 10 am to 3 pm, PERWAKILAN has been giving one booth to display the Malaysian tradition, cultural heritage, art, artifacts, food as well as costumes. At the same time, the Malaysia Truly Asia’s video presentation has been playing all the time and the Malaysian brochures on Tourism, Education as well as Medical have been distributed to all visitors. 

PERWAKILAN also involved in the fashion show  at night whereby eight adorable Malaysian teenagers wearing Malaysia’s traditional costumes such as Baju Kurung, Baju Melayu, Baju Kebaya, Baju Iban etc. PERWAKILAN feels that this is an opportunity  for us to join the aforesaid event in order to promote our culture and heritage to the Omani as well as other foreigners.

PERWAKILAN and the Embassy of Malaysia would like to take this opportunity to express our utmost appreciation to all participants that did well in making the event smooth and  success.

Chinese New Year Gathering

As you know, our Chinese friends will be celebrating Chinese New Year on the 3rd February this year. The Embassy of Malaysia, in Muscat with Malaysian Chinese Community in Oman will be hosting a CNY Gathering at the Royal Hospital Recreation Club Hall on the 24th February 2011 from 4.00 pm - 8.00 pm.

Gather your family and friends and do notify our staff, Ms. Sadaf at the Embassy (tel. no: +96824698329) whether you will be coming or not and how many will be attending!

Coffee Morning Perwakilan Muscat - January 2011

Snips of the Coffee Morning held at Puan Kartini Norhisyam's residence (Acting Chairperson of Perwakilan Muscat), on 10th January 2011. While waiting for the other members to arrive, ladies feasted their eyes with hand-made accessories by our own Perwakilan member, Awin.

The flower arrangement was demonstrated by Cik Liza, Malaysian staff at Al Bustan Palace Hotel. She was kind enough to teach the budget ways to save money from the 'blood-sucking' florist!

Her creations are minimalist yet appealing. You can use any leaves that you might find behind  your backyard!

Then came in the Food Session! Members were served with Nasi Ayam, Pasta Salad, Popia Goreng and as usual, Malaysia Boleh spirit, the members brought along their home-cooked delicacies for the rest to share...Yummy

Dearest ladies,

This is our first post in our own blog. We welcome any comments or post in this blog.

For a start, we would like to encourage members to do Coffee Morning where we can:

1) benefit new ideas/information about any issues
2) mingle with other members
3) celebrate the new members in town & Au Revoir to those who will be leaving Oman (we will include farewell gifts)
4) celebrate birthday babies of the month
5) ad-hoc meetings

More ideas on hosting a Coffee Morning amongst the Perwakilan members:

• Coffee Morning will be hosted by a member or more in every month (this can be discussed further with other members)
• Choose a theme for your Coffee Morning (e.g. colour, movie, etc.)
• Venue - where you prefer to host, be it your house, restaurant, etc.
• Invite a speaker to give talks on anything (e.g. health, cooking, education, religion, etc.)
• You may include lucky draw!
• Why not put in a demonstration on how to do your own jewellery, sewing, new hobby?
• Mini Bazaar is also welcomed (you can invite your friends - locals or expatriates) to promote goods

So ladies, let's meet up for our next Coffee Morning in February 2011 and who shall be the next host?
